Turns out, he was showing up drunk most of the time, and the work was sloppy—crooked tiles, uneven cuts, the whole deal. Then, he had the nerve to ask for $6,250 for the job! I ended up giving him $250 and a case of beer to call it quits, and he was surprisingly happy with that. Lesson
