Featuring exhibits on the history of South Haven, the beach and cottages, and the lighthouse. The Historical Association of South Haven is responsible for the care of our beautiful lighthouse.

The South Haven South Pierhead Light is a lighthouse in Michigan, at the entrance to the Black River on Lake Michigan. The station was lit in 1872, and is still operational. The tower is a shortened version of the Muskegon South Pierhead Light, and replaced an 1872 wooden tower.

Jan 18, 2015 · The United States lighthouse tender Hyacinth, Captain E.B Marquette, arrived in South Haven on October 21, 1903, with the new lighthouse on board. This was to replace the wooden structure that had been in service for 31 years.

Oct 27, 2014 · In 1871 a lighthouse was built on the South Pier mounting a Funk lamp of the fifth order. It was first used in 1872. This lighthouse was a wooden structure and was probably similar in plan to several others around the Great Lakes.

Donate to the Lighthouse and the Historical Association of South Haven which maintains it by purchasing a Personalized Commemorative Brick on the riverfront walkway passing the concession area on South Haven’s South Beach.

South Pier Light The lighthouse sits at the West End of the South Pier at the Mouth of the Black River in South Haven, Michigan.
