Scammell Lorries Limited was a British manufacturer of trucks, particularly specialist and military off-road vehicles, between 1921 and 1988. From 1955 Scammell was part of Leyland Motors. Scammell started as a late- Victorian period wheelwright and coach -building business, G Scammell & Nephew Ltd in Spitalfields, London.

Scammell is, arguably, the greatest name in British commercial road transport. The Scammell heritage began in the Victorian era, when the wheelwright, George Scammell of Fashion Street, Spitalfields, in the East End of London, developed his business.

In 1955 Scammell became part of Leyland Motors, leading to replacement of on-highway Scammel trucks range with the Highwayman, bonneted 4×2; Routeman, forward control 8-wheeler and Handyman, forward control 4×2. Both prime movers could be configured up to 50 tons and were complemented by a range of Scammell trailers.

Scammell, as with any famous marque in road transport history, has a dedicated following of enthusiasts, many of whom have restored and drive Scammell lorries. The Scammell Register is the organisation for anyone who owns, or has an interest in, this famous marque.

The company dates back to Victorian London, when George Scammell, a wheelwright in the East End, began building vans and carts. By the early 1900s, the company was building and servicing Foden steam wagons, along with small trucks.

The Scammell Scarab is a British 3-wheeled tractor unit produced by the truck manufacturer Scammell between 1948 and 1967. These vehicles are often known as "Snub-nose Trucks" or "Snub-nose Lorries" because of the round hood in front of the cab.
