The Macombs Dam Bridge connects West 155th Street in Manhattan with East 161st Street and Jerome Avenue in the Bronx. It is a major route from Manhattan to Yankee Stadium. The major features crossed are Adam Clayton Powell Jr. Boulevard (Seventh Avenue,) the Harlem River Drive, the Harlem River, the Oak Point Link, and the Major Deegan Expressway.

The borough is a quilt of ethnic areas. It has been said that Astoria, a charming neighborhood desired for its proximity to Manhattan, is the largest population of Greeks outside of Greece. Howard Beach and Middle Village are largely populated by Italian-Americans, Rockaway beach by Irish-Americans, and Maspeth with a growing Polish crowd.
