NORFOLK — His North Carolina hat didn’t fit well on top of his head because of his dreads, but Maury star quarterback Au’Tori Newkirk knew that North Carolina was the right place for him.

The Tar Heels added 19 players on National Signing Day, an influx that includes four-star quarterback Au’Tori Newkirk.

Back in December, some of Maury's best football players sat on the stage in the high school auditorium and signed their letters of intent. Missing was the back-to-back state player of the year.
