This is due to security checks , similar to airport, bags scanned etc.... the exhibition initially sets the tone as to the timeline of events leading to the holocaust, then switches to personal testament, fragments of letters. It is a good question. I definitely agree that the audio guide would not be appropriate. Personally, I found this museum to be very moving, but I don’t recall there to be many graphic pictures of dead bodies etc. I would focus less on the enormity of the tragedy and instead look at the individual stories of those who perished. There is one room which details letters sent by those who later died and that would be something a 12 year old would be able to comprehend. To conclude, I would only take a mature 12 year old child here.
