Yes you can use it any time they have cruises, but they are at specific times. Your Vienna pass info. should tell you the current schedule. Right now it is: 11.00; 13.00; 14:30; 16:00; 17:30 through September. You show up to the station/port on the Danube Canal, show your pass, and they hand you a ticket for the next cruise. Or I believe you can get one for later if that one happens to be full.

We did not do either of the two during our river cruise so cannot give you first hand information. 1) According to OEBB website Melk station has self operating lockers to store luggage. We used the ones at Vienna station and found them quite easy to operate. 2) Not sure about the fastest way to return to Melk as we returned directly to Vienna. Hopefully someone else will be able to help. It’s a very scenic cruise and you must do it. Enjoy.
